The stretch of Beach Boulevard near the La Mirada and Malvern intersection is a lively meeting point between Orange County and Los Angeles County, spanning parts of Buena Park, La Mirada and Fullerton. This corner of town hosts a growing variety of Asian restaurants, from long-standing favorites to new arrivals, and it’s encouraging to see the area continue to evolve and revitalize.

Because I don’t eat meat, I checked menus online before heading out rather than choosing randomly. That’s how I found Jjang and reviewed their offerings in advance. It was reassuring to see vegetarian options on the menu alongside a wide variety of dishes that would suit the rest of my family.

Jjang’s menu appealed to different palates: adventurous eaters like me, more conservative family members, and everyone in between. The restaurant serves Korean specialties as well as ramen, sushi and other popular items, so there’s something for most tastes.

Portions at Jjang are generous—many of us left with leftovers to enjoy later. We visited in the mid-afternoon, between lunch and dinner, and had no trouble finding a table. Judging by the layout and atmosphere, the restaurant likely fills up during evening service, so it’s a good idea to call ahead for a dinner reservation or place a to-go order if you prefer to eat at home.

Overall, Jjang was a hit with our large group. Everyone enjoyed their meals and most agreed it’s a place worth returning to for both variety and portion size.
