It is with great anticipation and pride that I announce my new book, Kitchen Matters, is finally here. This project has been a long time in the making and, although I’ve compared writing a book to having a baby, this one has been brewing even longer. More importantly, it was written for you. I love teaching cooking classes and wish I could welcome every one of you into the kitchen — since I can’t, I wrote this book to bring the classroom to your home.

Inside Kitchen Matters you’ll find practical, reliable guidance designed to help you cook with confidence. The book gathers the most useful material from my classes and presents it in a clear, user-friendly way so you can recreate the results at home.
Included in the book:
- Over 100 of the best recipes I’ve taught in classes over the last several years
- Clear answers to the questions I’m asked repeatedly
- My favorite sources for tools, cookware, and appliances—I’ve tested many brands while teaching in other people’s kitchens
- Guidance for adapting recipes to gluten-free, dairy-free, and other restricted diets
- Seasonal meal plans to simplify weekly cooking
- Anecdotes and lessons gathered from years of teaching
- And much more practical advice to help you cook from scratch

My aim has always been to help people and their families get healthier by cooking more from scratch and relying less on processed foods. Over the years I’ve watched people’s lives change when they cook better and sit down to eat together. That transformation—simple, meaningful, and sustainable—is at the heart of this book.

This is a practical, everyday cookbook—not a precious coffee-table volume. It’s meant to live on your counter, get splattered, and be used regularly. Feel free to tweak the recipes and make them your own, or follow them exactly—they consistently work. Most have been taught in class dozens of times and tested by many students with positive feedback.

Thank you to everyone who has come to my classes over the years. Your questions, experiments, and feedback have made me a better teacher and helped shape this book into a useful resource. I also appreciate the thoughtful comments from readers on the blog and social media—I enjoy those conversations and hope this book gives you the same practical benefits as attending a class.
The book is available online through the usual retailers and is currently priced under $14 on many sites. Signed copies are available from my local bookstore, Pages. I hope you enjoy Kitchen Matters and I can’t wait to see what you create in your kitchen.
Love,
Pamela
