Avocado halves four ways – each takes less than 5 minutes. Liven up your avocado for a tasty, quick snack!

When I was a child my mother often handed me half an avocado as a snack. She would spoon in minced garlic, a squeeze of lemon and a drizzle of olive oil — simple, fresh and unforgettable. That memory turned half an avocado into one of my favorite quick eats.
Avocado is wonderfully adaptable and pairs well with lots of flavors, so I experimented and settled on four easy, delicious toppings. Two are classic combinations and two are a bit different, but all come together in under five minutes.

The first two are bright and simple: lemon with olive oil and smoked paprika, and balsamic with olive oil. They’re quick, flavorful, and let the avocado shine.
The third option is essentially a speedy tzatziki—Greek yogurt mixed with garlic and dill, finished with halved kalamata olives for a salty contrast. If you’re not a fan of kalamatas, omit them and the yogurt still makes a lovely, creamy topping.
The fourth topping has an Asian-inspired sweet-and-salty dressing made with rice vinegar, soy and hoisin sauce folded into mayo and finished with fresh spring onion. It’s a different direction but surprisingly satisfying with creamy avocado.

Below are the ingredient lists and straightforward instructions for each method. All serve one half avocado and take only minutes to prepare.
