Join me for 30 Days of Cleaning up my Keto program!

What is the 30 day keto cleanup challenge?
Many readers have asked for accountability and support to either get started with keto, find moral support from others doing the same, or refine what they are already doing. To meet that need, we launched the 30 Day Keto Cleanup Challenge in July 2020.
The first challenge was a big success and many participants wanted more. I originally considered running monthly challenges, then every other month, but these events require significant time and effort.
I balance running this website with a full-time job and caring for my mother, who has Alzheimer’s, so my schedule is full. Still, the Challenges have been personally beneficial — since the July 2020 Challenge I lost 26 lbs and have kept it off as of January 2021.
To keep a sustainable rhythm, the challenge will run five months a year, about every other month with a break in November. That structure gives you one intensive month of tracking, reporting and accountability, followed by a lighter month to consolidate progress.
The next #30dayketocleanup Challenge will start March 1, 2021.
How can I join the Challenge?
My audience connects in different ways: some follow on Facebook, others on Instagram, and many prefer email. Here’s the process we used in July, with a few improvements made in September:
- Download the 30 Day Keto Cleanup Progress Tracker (available at the end of the post). Doing so signs you up for the “Joined the Challenge” email list so you receive only challenge-related messages.
- You’ll have the option to purchase the Getting Started Package at a low cost. It includes a 7-day menu plan and helpful tools. If you already have a keto plan you like, continue using that.
- During the Challenge I’ll post daily on Instagram with examples of what I’m eating and updates. Follow the hashtag #30dayketocleanup to see challenge posts and follow my Instagram account for updates.
- Facebook followers can follow daily challenge posts on my Facebook Page.
- If you’re in the Facebook group for women, I’ll start a daily thread there that you can join to share experiences and encouragement.
Do I have to follow a certain food plan?
No. You can follow whatever plan fits your lifestyle, budget, and goals. If you’re new to keto or feel your current approach isn’t working, consider the Getting Started Package for guidance and a 7-day plan. It’s inexpensive and designed to help newcomers get moving.
Since this is a CLEANUP challenge, here are a few suggestions to get the most from it:
- Track your food daily during the 30 days using a free app like MyFitnessPal or CarbManager, or use a paper tracker from the Free Resource Library, or simply a sheet of paper.
- Record your starting weight and measurements on the 30 Day Progress Tracker so you can monitor progress.
- Choose at least one food or category to eliminate or reduce for 30 days. Common examples that can stall weight loss include nuts, heavy cream, processed keto snacks, or alcohol. If you hesitate at the thought of giving up something for 30 days, that might be the right target to challenge.
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, watch for #30dayketocleanup posts and join the conversation. I appreciate the support and feedback as much as anyone!
