
My husband has been planning his Super Bowl menu for days and, unsurprisingly, he asked for some kind of buffalo chicken. He loves buffalo chicken, so I try to come up with new takes for him. While I’m not the biggest fan of buffalo or BBQ sauce myself, tacos are always a win in our house — including buffalo chicken tacos.

This slow cooker recipe is incredibly simple. Add chicken, low-sodium chicken broth, buffalo sauce, and garlic powder to the slow cooker, then let it cook until the chicken is tender enough to shred. It’s an easy option for weeknight dinners and can be doubled for a party or game day crowd.
I used a moderate amount of buffalo sauce to give the chicken a balanced flavor. If you prefer more heat, serve extra buffalo sauce on the side so guests can add more to taste. Toppings are very flexible — blue cheese, shredded cheese, avocado, cilantro, and sour cream all work well. If you don’t want tacos, the shredded buffalo chicken also makes great sliders or sandwiches.

These fun and easy buffalo chicken tacos couldn’t be easier to make thanks to the slow cooker.
Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless chicken breasts, trimmed and cut in half lengthwise
- 1 cup low sodium chicken broth
- 2/3 cup buffalo sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Tortillas, avocado, cheese, cilantro, sour cream, extra buffalo sauce for serving
Instructions
- Place the chicken breasts into the slow cooker. In a small bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, buffalo sauce, and garlic powder. Pour the mixture over the chicken. Cover and cook on low for 3 hours and 30 minutes or on high for about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and let it warm for about 10 minutes on the warm setting so the flavors meld. Serve on tortillas and add desired toppings.
